Note From Editor

Dear readers,

As I speak Form Threes and Form Fives are probably perusing through book after book in wait for their trial examinations. As I am a Fifth Former and having undergone my PMR some light years ago, I understand how nerve-racking this period of time is. I wish you all the best of luck.

Anyway, this time of year in school is rather uneventful without the Internationals around. As they are happily enjoying their end of term holidays, the lack of their presence filling up corridors on the top floors and flooding the canteen would seem great, and yet the school feels half empty, sad to say. As for me, I cannot wait for the return of my International editors all pumped up after a re-energising break.

The article that caught my eye on this issue would most definitely be Health Tips Part 1, yes, be sure to expect a sequel to this very appealing article. Besides that, I have to say Sharon’s article on the increasing oil prices in Malaysia was very thought provoking as she laid down all the statistics and facts on this seemingly never ending problem.

Also, the Cempaka Fashion Club here in Cheras was never as popular as the other clubs but believe you me when I say that the club and its members have their hands full as their Fashion Show is creeping near. Be sure to attend for I have heard rumours that this show is one for the books.

Beyond Your Classroom

When Year Fives students were taught in their History lesson about orphanages during Victorian times, a learning trip aptly named ‘Look Beyond Your Classroom’ was organised.
Forty students visited Pure Life Society Orphanage in Puchong on 1 April 2008 to enable them understand and see the difference how orphans live during Victorian times and now.
Here are some students’ views on the visit.

I learn that you cannot take things for granted. It's because the orphans have no father and mother and do not have nice things like we do. So we should be happy with the things we have and appreciate it that we have a father and a mother who loves us very much.
by Esther Kuan Ning Xin (Year 5 Terra)

I learned that l am very privileged to have a family who loves me very much. I am also very glad that l am blessed to have a nice home to live in.
by Ariana Tang (Year 5 Terra)

What l have realised:
1.
My parents are really important
2. I am very lucky
3. I should be polite

by Kate Choi (Year 5 Terra)

When l saw these children, l was thinking how would they feel not having parents and how does it feel to share a house with a hundred children. I am really lucky and blessed.
by Lareb Gul Baloch (Year 5 Aqua)

We are very lucky to have experienced such a joyful, educational and memorable trip. We hope that we would be able to go for more trips like this again.
