His Excellency Carlos Felix Corona, the Ambassador of Mexico to Malaysia recently visited Cempaka International School Damansara Heights campus as the Main Guest of Honor at the Mexican Art Competition Certificate Presentation Ceremony “This is My Mexico” and Art Exhibition. The top participants in Malaysia received certificates of participation and had their works presented at the Art Gallery and the CDH Suite.

The top 5 best drawings in Malaysia were done by the following Cempaka Schools Malaysia students:

Aside from the sumptuous, Mexican-inspired food, the event also saw performances from the Cempaka Harp Ensemble and Rayyan Anwar, an incumbent Cempaka student and award-winning pianist who just came back from Italy.

CPAC’s Clean Sweep at the Jr Cammies 2016

Cempaka Schools Box Office Production

Cempaka Performing Arts Company (CPAC) came out on top on this year’s Junior Cammies for the Cempaka Schools Box Office Production 2015 Annie, The Musical. CPAC was nominated and won all the four awards:  Best Production Design (Set, Lights, Sound/Music & Costume) and Best Ensemble (second year in a row) while Charmaine Koh Sher Min, who played the lead role, took the Best Principal Role. In the meantime, Scott McQuaid took the award for Best Direction.

“We are thrilled to win all four awards in the Junior Cammies for Musical Theatre and to be recognised by Kakiseni in the prestigious Boh Cameronian Arts Awards. Each year, in Cempaka Schools, the anticipated school musical is a major highlight. It provides the students a big platform to feature their talent and passion for the arts. Our is to get better every year as we strive to produce and to stage full-scale musicals of the highest standards,” says Andrew Chan, Head of Performing Arts and Producer – Cempaka Schools Box Office Production.

“Anybody can look at a pretty girl and see a pretty girl. An artist can look at a pretty girl and see the old woman she will become and a great artist can look at an old woman and see the pretty girl that she used to be,” declares YBhg. Dato’ Abdul Rahman Sallehudin, a Cempaka parent and one of the pioneers in the animated film industry in Malaysia during his opening speech as the guest of honor at the launch of Cempaka Art Carnival 2015.

Dato’ Rahman also stressed that ‘art encourages thinking. Because art encourages observation, rewards exploration and defines expression…art is not simply a subject to be taught for grades but a key component for a student’s road to self-discovery and how they view the world around them, all of which is important in forming the minds of tomorrows leaders.’

Guests from the French Embassy, Wisma Putra and the academe enjoy the shows at the Special French Assembly.

Just in time for the arrival of spring in France, Cempaka International Schools Damansara Heights and Cheras campus celebrated French culture and language at the North Hall of Cempaka International School Cheras/Cempaka Cheras campus last 17 June 2015.

Led by YBhg. Dato’ Freida Pilus, Founder and Mentor of Cempaka Schools Malaysia, the schools welcomed Madame Pauline Vey (Linguistic Attaché, Embassy of France), Ms. Morgane Buffin (Cooperation and Cultural Service Officer, Embassy of France), Mr. Muhammad Muhainin (Assistant Secretary of Europe Divisions, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia), and Ms Nadège Martra (cofounder and executive director of SJL French, Kuala Lumpur). Members of the academe were also in attendance, Mrs Mélodie Barthoux (Pedagogical Coordinator for the Alliance Francaise de Kuala Lumpur), Mrs Elizabeth Brio (Lecturer of French Language in the UM University) and Mrs Marini (Malaysian Director of MFUC: Malaysia-France University Centre).

FOLLOWING THROUGH A STRING OF HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL CEMPAKA SCHOOLS BOX OFFICE PRODUCTIONS, CEMPAKA PERFORMING ARTS COMPANY (CPAC) HAVE CHOSEN TO MOUNT THE BELOVED CLASSIC ANNIE: THE MUSICAL FOR 2015.

Produced by Andrew Chan and directed by Scott McQuaid, Annie will be staged at the North Hall, Cempaka International School, Cheras from 22-24 May 2015 and 29-31 May 2015.

Annie (played by Charmaine Koh Sher Min) tells the extraordinary story of a little orphan that ends up in the lap of luxury with billionaire Oliver Warbucks (Muhammad Elmyzan Farhan Bin Mohd Fahmi). Unlike most of the other children at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage, the tough Annie believes that her parents are still alive and will one day return to claim her. So when Mr. Warbucks offers to adopt her, she asks the most powerful man in America to help find her real parents instead, and he agrees. Warbucks offers a big reward for Annie’s parents which attracts the attention of con artists Rooster (Abdul Muhaimin), Lily (Jang Eun Sung) and the wicked Miss Hannigan (Nuha Binti Jes Izman). They hatch a plot to kidnap Annie and take the cash reward. This classic family musical has a happy ending for Annie, Daddy Warbucks and the whole gang.

Malaysia’s First Animated Musical Feature launches Colouring Competition at Cempaka Schools

MALAYSIA’S FIRST ANIMATED MUSICAL FILM, OH! LA LA, LAUNCHES A SCHOOL-WIDE COLOURING COMPETITION AT CEMPAKA INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL CHERAS ON 6 MAY 2015.

Nearly 2000 teachers, staff and students will participate in the said competition. Prizes will be given away per category: 1st Prize: RM 1000, 2nd Prize: RM 700, 3rd Prize: RM 500 as well as 10 consolation prizes. Aside from the Cheras campus, students, staff and teachers from Cempaka International Ladies’ College (CILC) and Cempaka International School Damansara Heights also joined the art tilt. Winners will be announced at a later date.

The film was slated to make cinematic history as it becomes the country’s first musical feature in animated format. Oh! La La is directed by Dato’ Abdul Rahman Sallehudin, a Cempaka parent and one of the pioneers in the animated film industry in Malaysia.
