Cempaka Cheras student Chong Tze Wey recently dazzled the dance floors of 17th Best of Best Hong Kong Open Dancesport Championship at the Kowloon Bay International Trade & Exhibition Centre last 25th December 2015 where she took three Championship titles in various categories.
Tze Wey was adjudged champion in Latin Solo Freestyle U12(chacha/jive), Latin Solo U14(chacha), and Latin Solo U10 (samba/rumba). Meanwhile, she took 1st runner-up placing for Latin Solo U10 (chacha/jive) and 4th placing for Latin Solo U14 (rumba).
“I just love and enjoy myself very much with the sensation, movements & the feeling of Latin Dancing. I spend a minimum of 10 hours practicing my dances a week. My coach, (Teacher) Kelvin Choo, is a very kind and dedicated teacher who is always there to support me.” This was Tze Wey’s fourth overseas competition and her first time competing in Hong Kong. “I was very happy and overjoyed when the results were announced, with me winning three championship titles, one 1st runner-up title and one 4th runner-up placing for all the 5 events I took part,” Tze Wey gushes.
When asked what her favourite dance was, she enthusiastically answers, “My favorite dance is Jive! It is a very dynamic, lively and happy dance that needs a lot of power & energy. I guess that is why I love Jive very much.”
She added, “To close my 2015, I have done with about 15 competitions winning about 70 medals. I am looking forward for a more challenging 2016!”
Congratulations Tze Wey!
