Together with the Embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands to Malaysia and EcoWorld, Cempaka Cycle held a major cycling event dubbed as EcoRide last 12 December 2015 at the EcoMajestic in Seminyih, Selangor, Malaysia.
His Excellency, Ambassador Harry Molenaar officiated the event which drew around 250 cyclists from Cempaka International School Damansara Heights, Cempaka International School Cheras/Cempaka Cheras and Cempaka International Ladies’ College. Cycling is a ubiquitous form of transport in The Netherlands, with about a third of the population using bicycles as their transport of choice. The cities of Amsterdam, Zwolle and Groningen probably have the highest modal shares in the world.
Aside from cycling, Cempaka EcoRide was also a fair of sorts with food (food trucks, popcorn, cotton candy, light refreshments), games (gladiator jousting, bull rides) and a photo booth.
Currently, cycling is part of the extra-curricular activity for students of Cempaka Schools and will soon to be included in the Sports For All program across all the campuses. Cempaka Cycle hopes to promote safe cycling in Malaysia as well as better health and cleaner environment.
