After one and a half months of intense rehearsals and seven sold-out shows, the 2007 Box Office Production, Witches of Oz, came to an end. We were back to catching up on our studies and focusing on our final examinations. To mark the end of the Witches of Oz, a party was held for both the cast and the crew.
Tickets were given out to the production team for the party, which was held in the North Hall, Cempaka Cheras on 9 October 2007. It was great to see our friends again. Many hugs were exchanged and exclamations of “Oh my God. I missed you!” could be heard.
Everyone looked great all dressed up. First on the agenda were excerpts from the Witches of Oz Musical. Watching it brought tears to my eyes; the hard work had been worth it.
Next were the announcements of the awards and this was the most entertaining. Cempaka Performing Arts Company (CPAC) teachers had put on a skit to announce each award. There were ten awards in total – Best Dancer, Best Chorus Member, Best Supporting Cast, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Stage Crew Member, Best Production Crew Member, Best Orchestra Member, Best Young Performer and Most Promising Performer. All the teachers enjoyed performing the skit as much as we, the audience, enjoyed watching it.
Certificate presentation followed the skit. Everyone received a certificate for their participation and a complimentary copy of the Witches of Oz soundtracks. We also saw the glimpses and that brought lots of laughs.
The food was good and the company great. Overall, the night was fantastic. Although there had been a massive traffic jam on the way to the party, it was definitely worthwhile going to.
We really ‘defied gravity’. Around 10.30 pm, we bid our farewells reluctantly. It was adieu. |
