Day 1

31 April 2008 was the day we had to prove ourselves to our coaches, Mr Andrew Heng and Mr Ng Yew Eng. We left for Sekolah Kecemerlangan Cochrane with excitement. We had a brief warm-up and started practising before our match at 9.30 am. Our first match was against Sekolah Kebangsaan Brickfields. We won with a score of 2-0.The goal was scored by Nisa Zehran.

Our next match was against Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Tun Dr Ismail. That team was disqualified as they could not attend the competition.

We then battled it out with Sekolah Kebangsaan Desa Tasik in our last match. Everyone played with great effort. The score was 2-1. Tai Kai Xin scored the only goal. We were dissappointed as we did not play well enough to win. Most of us did not follow the strategy planned out. We had a lecture from our coaches and vowed to play our very best the second day.

Day 2

When we learnt that we were playing against Sekolah Kebangsaan Desa Tasik Selatan, last year’s champion, in the quarter-finals, many team members lost confidence. However, during the match, every player put a hundred and one percent in the match. It was a stiff competition. To our surprise, Hana Zakirah scored a perfect goal. After competing for 20 minutes, the whistle blew. Everyone was screaming with joy as we had never made it past the quarter-finals before. It was a memorable moment for us all.

We practised very hard for our semi-finals match against Sekolah Kebangsaan Bangsar. Somehow, we couldn’t play as well compared to the quarter-finals match. The pressure was on us as we really wanted to enter the final. To our disappointment, the overall score was 2-1, in the opponents' favour. Deborah scored our only goal. The match officially ended when the whistle blew. Tears filled our eyes as we knew that we had failed our coaches. It was a disappointing moment for us, especially for our captain Shi Jinn. However, our coaches were still proud of us. At the end of the day, we walked away with bronze medals on our necks. Those of us who could still compete next year were determined to get the gold!
