Orientation day, the day ex-primary students come up into secondary and begin their new life in school. Teachers and principal Puan Farah of Sri Cempaka Schools, Damansara Heights organized Orientation Day held on Wednesday, 2 January 2008.
The day started with Puan Farah giving an opening speech while waiting for the arrival of Chairman Datin Freida and Vice Chairman Dr Rizal. Upon arrival, the prefects then stood on the stage to sing the school song. The song was sung a few times for the benefit of the new students who are still learning the song.
Students then received the new penance system rule book. Dr Rizal spoke on the rules and regulations of the school. He explained many things such as duties carried out by prefects, academic expectations of the school as well as reminded the students not to forget to bring their laptops everyday. He also mentioned about the co-curricular activities that were held in school like the expeditions, swimming gala and, of course, activities like the Cempaka movie awards and so on.
The new, shy students were then assigned to their tutors. The teachers were as eager to see the students as the students to see them and were given time to introduce themselves. Everyone left after the national song ‘Negaraku’ was sung.
The prefects then gave the new students a tour around the school showing them the science laboratory, the school and teachers’ office, canteen and swimming pool areas. The prefects also explained how the school operates. The students were also given a lesson on ‘How to Tie a Tie’ by the prefects.
That ended the Orientation Day. We hope all new students will have a pleasant school life in Sri Cempaka as we at the Young Journalists’ Club have experienced.
All the best to you all. |
