Games Carnival Day 2
By AARON ONG, Form 5 Science 2

On the 3 April 2009, Cempakan students from both campuses adjourned to the Cheras campus field. It was the second day of the annual Games Carnival and the competition was high. The games that were to be played on that day were badminton boys, handball girls and boys, and also softball. Games Carnival contributes to 25% of the First House Cup. Thus, it was vital for all four houses to emerge as champions for Games Carnival.

The athletes proceeded to the respective sports area with one goal in their minds – to win. Loud cheers of support could be heard from a distance; colourful banners could be seen everywhere around the school field. House spirit overwhelmed every student’s mind; let it be the players or the supporters.

Badminton boys was held at the South Hall, with handball girls and softball at the field being played at the same time. Tension was rising at the field; screams of anguish and frustration could also be heard. The heat had made many players lose their tempers and even made some curse silently under their breaths. To sum it all up, the intense level at the field was high but spirits were higher.

As the day reached to an end, the crowd at the field slowly dispersed. The results at the end of the day were as follows with Rumah Helang grabbing both the golds for handball girls and boys, and Rumah Harimau grabbing the golds for softball and badminton boys.

With cheerleading left to end 2009’s annual Games Carnival, which House will emerge as the ultimate champion? To all four houses, best of luck and remember nothing is impossible!
