The VLE is the latest member of the family of impressive efforts of those who mould the sculpture that is Cempaka’s bright, technologically advanced future, to continue the pioneering, explorative stance that the school seems to be steering towards. This interesting, and definitely practical, online wonder is run on the Studywiz platform. Studywiz is a dynamic learning platform that intends to help students learn through e-learning, and is a strong force in the movement to revolutionise education in schools as we know it.
For a brief idea of how life as a student was like before the VLE, I shall mention one of the woes encountered with teacher’s blogs that many students will be able to empathise with. Pretty much each subject has a different teacher, and each teacher had a separate blog. This caused the hassle of students having to visit many different subject teacher’s blogs to know their homework but had lacked the knowledge of how to use RSS (Really Simple Syndication [I’m serious]) feeds.
The VLE however, solves this issue and more. It, in fact, completely obliterates the opposition that is its predecessor. In fact, my amazement at the impressiveness of the VLE is so great, I’ll have to start referring to it as a ‘her’.
I shall begin from the beginning and explain to you the beauty of the Virtual Learning Environment, so that you are able to feel how simply divine the experience is.
As you enter her domain, you are greeted with a snazzy login page, headed with an additionally stylish caption, and several options. Even the design of the login page boasts a modern, sophisticated feel. Once login has been completed, her visitors are easily tempted to explore as they are met with a simple yet sleek user interface filled neatly with 12 panels, all colour coordinated and each with its own function.
Delving deeper into the convenience of these panels, it is obvious that they are indeed useful. There is a homework panel filled with the latest homework, a calendar accurate to the day, a panel for the latest discussions, news, achievements, and many other things. There’s even a panel which can be customised to suit your own liking.
The VLE makes printed school letters redundant and unnecessary since these letters will be read by parents online, on the VLE. As an added side bonus, this strongly supports the Save the World society through paper reduction.
Also, the VLE opens up some new learning opportunities through different means like online discussions, chat rooms, games and polls that may be made as ‘homework’ by a teacher about basically anything.
Tests on the VLE, objective or subjective, are marked instantly and you can see your mistakes, too. That’s another great function of the VLE.
Basically, the VLE pretty much consolidates most of the things a student would want and puts them together into one nice, easy to use website. |
