Did you know that in every colour of a rose, there is a message behind it? That’s right, roses have a language all their own. Romans used this in the Victorian era as a discreet way to express one’s feelings for another. Red roses have always meant heartfelt, everlasting love and passion. White roses symbolise purity and brightness. A man who gives white roses is telling his loved one that he thinks she is an angel. A mixed bouquet of white and red roses symbolises unity. Pink roses have several meanings. It depends on the shade of pink. Deep pink roses symbolize gratitude and respect, while light pink roses shows sympathy. Yellow roses, on the other hand, represent friendship and care. Orange roses symbolise new beginnings. This probably explains why orange roses are increasingly popular in bridal bouquets. When you receive a deep burgundy rose, someone is telling you that they think you are more beautiful that you realise. There are also meanings for the more exotic rose colours. Green roses represent fertility while purple roses signify enchantment and love at first sight. Blue roses are a symbol of mystery and intrigue. Not surprisingly, black roses represent death but also represent new beginnings. It’s not just the colour of roses that speak volumes; it’s also the way they are presented. |
