"Always a Bridesmaid, Never a Bride" This movie was directed by the one and only Anne Fletcher, starring the famous Katherine Heigl, James Marsden and Ed Burns. Most of you would probably remember Katherine Heigl as Izzie Stevens from the one and only Grey's Anatomy television series. In this movie, Heigl plays the lead role which is the young woman, Jane, who has made an unofficial out of being a bridesmaid but unfortunately never a bride. Jane appears to be the famous bridesmaid, who owns a total number of 27 bridesmaid dresses. One night, a local newspaper reporter, Kevin (James Marshen) spots Jane, the devoted bridal attendant, racing between two receptions in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Her busy yet interesting life has brought Kevin's interest in getting a story out from her, just to get him off the bridal beat and into a big time career. Jane faces her worst nightmare when her younger, prettier and model-like sister, Tess, returns from Europe and falls in love with her boss and her "love of her life", George (Ed Burns). Jane then comes to the point where she is suddenly prompted to re-evaluate her priorities. When Tess and George finally decide to get married, Tess immediately assumes that her older sister, Jane would be nothing but happy and willing to participate in organizing her wedding. Jane finally realizes that she had been sacrificing all her happiness for her dear ones and had completely forgotten about her own happiness. Towards the end, she finally finds the courage to be honest with herself and everyone else. Finally, Jane comes to good terms with her true feelings and from there onwards her life begins to change in different ways she has never expected. Overall, this movie is witty and entertaining. At times it may be predictable but it is definitely engaging and most likely be remembered as a film that has brought Katherine Heigl another step forward in her career. Therefore, this is a movie that you should watch and definitely not miss. |
