The excitement continues…

The final day of the secondary school Games Carnival 2006 dawned bright and sunny at the Cempaka Cheras grounds on Saturday.
As the morning sun rose above the horizon, the action on the field also heated up.

The events that were held include Basketball, Volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee and Soccer 5-a-side. Softball, Tennis, and Handball finals were also brought forward, due to a slight drizzle that hampered their game on Friday.

Beruang dominated the fast-paced game of Ultimate Frisbee, a recent addition to the wide selection of sports played during the Games Carnival. The Bears dispatched Helang 5-0 in the preliminary match to qualify for the finals. They consequently defeated Harimau 4-1, romping their way to the gold. Helang and Seladang secured the 3rd and 4th placing respectively.

On the other end of the playing field, 5-a-side soccer was attracting plenty of attention. The Helang and Harimau teams went head-to-head after claiming victory over Beruang and Seladang. It was a heart-stopping match, with both sides displaying equal skill and dexterity with the ball. In spite of this, the Eagles were ultimately no match for the Tigers, captained by the adept Zatesa Ahmad-the game ended 2-1 to the jubilant Harimaus.

Meanwhile on the tennis courts, Seladang determinedly continued their winning streak, clinching the gold in the men's doubles and women's singles events. Formidable doubles pair Wong Wen Jun and Vivek Vasant trounced Beruang's Elias Johari and Leon Ang with a stunning 8-1 win. Meanwhile, Juvene Goh of Seladang slogged for a closely-contested 8-6 triumph over Lee Kit Yen.

"It was a scary experience for me because Juvene is much older and definitely more experienced. However, I'm satisfied with the outcome (of the match)," said an upbeat Lee after the match had commenced.
Seladang also emerged victorious in volleyball, whilst Harimau clawed their way to the gold in basketball (by a one point deficit) and handball.
