PMR 2005 Results

Sweaty palms, quivering hands, crossed fingers-all too familiar to those of us present at the Cempaka Damansara school hall on the 22nd of December, waiting to collect our Penilaian Menengah Rendah results. The unbearable suspense and tension in the air nearly tangible, we gathered in the hall shortly before the results were scheduled for release at 12 o'clock. Faces all around mirrored the same expressions of anxiety and anticipation; the minutes ticked by as slowly as molasses in the summer.

But we shouldn't have worried all that much, really.

Yes, believe it or not, we did it again. 2005 was yet another banner year for Cempaka's excellent academic record, with 100% passes for the sixteenth consecutive year in the Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) examinations. An astonishing 57% of Cempakans scored 7 and 8 A's, which happens to be the highest percentage recorded in the last six batches of students who attempted this examination. 12 proud students walked off with 8 A's, and a whopping 95 of the rest with 7 A's. Teachers and students alike hugged, cheered and took countless photographs following the broadcast of results. It was euphoric, exhilarating and certainly one of the best days of 2005.

If you don't believe us, just count the happy faces in the group photograph.
