Every year, on the 14th of February, the entire world goes into the Valentine's Day frenzy. All over the world, candy, flowers, and gifts are exchanged between loved ones all in the name of St. Valentine. What happens to those who do not believe in this particular Day of Love, you might wonder. Well, they could mope around at home feeling bitter OR they could actually go out and celebrate other celebrations!

The 14th of February is not just Valentine's Day. For those in Bulgaria, it is Vine grower's Day, otherwise known as Trifon Zarezan. Vine grower's Day is an ancient holiday rite inherited from the Thracians. Dressed in their Sunday best, vine growers prune the vines and sprinkle them with wine for a good harvest. Everyone then gathers for a delicious meal. If you are not a wine person, perhaps you will like Ferris wheels.

This one day is also known as Ferris Wheel Day. The first Ferris wheel was the highlight of the 1893 World's Fair. It was created by one George W. Ferris, who was a bridge builder based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania somewhere in America. Back then, fifty cents per ride (the staple cost at the time) was considered a high price. Nowadays, however, you'll be lucky to get a ride for two dollars. By bringing your loved one on a Ferris wheel, you will not only be celebrating one, but TWO celebrations on the same day! Cool, no?

How far can you go from the Day of Love? Not far. On February the 14th, Connecticut and virtually every other state in the United States celebrate "A Day for Hearts - Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Day." CHD Day is held with hope more people will realize how devastating impact of congenital heart defects on people can be and to raise awareness about the need for more research funding, education, and support services

For those who are hoping to end their lonely days, Yahoo! Personals, the leader in the online dating market, encourages singles to set aside time for themselves and their love lives in celebration of National Call in Single Day, February 14th. In addition to finding a possible love match, singles have the chance to win great prizes like diamond earrings and digital cameras.

At ends, we should realize that February the 14th is not all just flowers, chocolates and cards. It is also full of other things such as wine, Ferris wheels and even charity work. Why celebrate just one holiday when you can celebrate five?
